Ludum Dare is an online competition in which game makers have 48-72 hours to create a game from scratch. Each game must be made about a theme which is voted on by the community for the week leading up to the competition. For each of my projects, I would generally choose a new technology to work with (generally learning it on the fly) and try to complete whatever I could in 48 hours. Ludum Dare generally takes place three times a year.
